About NUS Hindu Society

The NUS Hindu Society was formed in February 1983 with the primary objective of promoting the study and practice of Hinduism. Since then, it has actively pursued those objectives with the organizations of shows, forums, seminars and camps that have benefited not only the undergraduates but the general public as well.

Since 1983, a new executive committee has taken over the society annually and left its mark on the society through the activities it organized. apart from engaging university students in various activities, the Hindu society does its part to reach out to the general public as well. In 1999, SWARNA, consisting of debate and drama competitions was coordinated for the very first time for secondary school students to facilitate their exposure to Hinduism in a more creative manner. Over the years, SWARNA has evolved to encompass greater variety of competitions, for instance, song-for-song and fashion design. It also caters to a larger group of participants comprising of tertiary level students

NUS Hindu Society will continue to improve and seek out to NUS students and the public as well with its main goal in mind. The flame which was lit by the pioneers 24 years ago will continue to burn for many more years to come
