Welcome to NUS HS's Website!

The NUS (National University of Singapore) Hindu Society was formed in February 1983 with the primary objective of promoting the study and practice of Hinduism. Since then, it has actively pursued those objectives with the organizations of shows, forums, seminars and camps that have benefited not only the undergraduates but the general public as well.

Lights & Lantern
For the first time ever, Lantern Festival & Deepavali were celebrated together in NUS. The event was held at the newly built YIH Plaza and was put together by NUS Office of Student Affairs, NUS Hindu Society, Graduate Society, Sikh Society and the Indian Cultural Society. This event's main co-ordinator was Tharsan from NUS HS and it was an honour to have been the first to organize an event in the newly built YIH Plaza. The event was the last official event for the 26th EXCO and we were glad we ended it with a BLASTing Success!

Our Success from our first-time-ever: Shravanam
Shravanam, our Hinduism Appreciation/Awareness month marked another success, in our calendar of events. It is notable that it was our first time organizing Shravanam, packing it with activities every week..
It was well-received not only by Hindus but by non-Hindus as well.. I guess I should say we gave a new face/perspective to what is "believed to be Hinduism"..
These were the series of activities that were conducted, under the 'Shravanam' banner:
-(YOU Name It) YNI Workshop

-Exhibition@Library
-Face Upliftment of the HS Forum
-Temple tour for Exchange Students
-Yoga Workshop, Going back to Tradition

Our Project for the Needy-
 Yatra 2008
was a ROARING Success !

Held at the University Cultural Centre's hall, National University Of Singapore on the 30th August 2008, Yatra was a Huge Success! It had attracted a crowd of more then 1500 people! This stage co-ordinated by HS & students of NUS, was a effort put together by students from the other Universities such as NTU, SMU, SIM, MDIS and polytechnics such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and JCs- Anderson Junior College, St.Andrew's Junior College & Millenia Institute.

Yatra also marked the first time where a stage production of this scale was worked not by just one school but with students from the other tertiary institutions.

We would like to THANK YOU for making this a Success !

NUS Hindu Society held its successful 25th Anniversary Celebrations on the 30th of March 2008 at Bayview Hotel. Professor A.N. Rao, one of our founding fathers, was the Guest-of-Honour for the event. The event was a huge success with our founders, advisors, alumni, Temple officials, sponsors, supporters & friends present for the event.

We would like to thank each & everyone of you for your presence & support!
It was nice being with the HS family, as we celebrate HS's birthday.

We had also launched our new logo(officially opened by our distinguished Guest-Of-Honour Prof. AN Rao) & the "Friends of HS" Mermbership Scheme(Officially launched by Dr Brian Shegar, one of our founding fathers).

We look forward to working with Hindu & non-Hindu organizations closely & to engage in more community service and innovative approaches to attract youths, as we step into the Bright Future ahead !

NUS Hindu Society' is proud to have received the
NUS Student Achievement Awards 2007 for
Outstanding Community Service.

It wouldn't have been possible without your kind support, Thank you!
